The online version of the Australian Dictionary of Biography is provided by The Australian National University and is an incredibly rich resource for teachers and students, containing over 10,000 scholarly biographical articles on 11,237 individuals who were significant in Australian History; with a few exceptions these persons died before 1981 (all died by 1986). Search using words or phrases, also allows structured searches using categories such as occupation and other criteria useful for historical inquiry.
